Job Summary
Assist the professional nurse in patient care tasks, including phlebotomy, glucose fingersticks, and electrocardiograms. Provide direct assistance with personal care, activity, and safety observations for patients on continuous observation or in restraints. Support admission, transfer, and discharge procedures while maintaining unit cleanliness, equipment safety, and environmental standards. Collect data for quality improvement programs and communicate patient responses and concerns to the registered nurse. Respond promptly to call lights and complete delegated responsibilities as directed by nursing staff.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Graduate of a PCT program with at least 6 months hospital experience
- CNA graduate plus course completion in EKG & Phlebotomy and PCT certification eligible plus at least 6 months hospital experience
- PCT Certification through National Healthcareer Association (NHA) with at least 6 months hospital experience
- BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (Issued by the American Heart Association-AHA)
- Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (Issued by the American Heart Association-AHA)
- Working knowledge of English
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- 6 months hospital experience
