Patient Care Technician responsible for supporting nurses and ensuring smooth patient flow in a hospital unit. Performs hourly rounding, clerical duties (chart maintenance, telephone handling, order entry in Meditech), coordinates patient flow with the charge nurse, assists with patient and non-patient care duties, supports patient/family teaching, maintains supplies and equipment, documents charges, adheres to safety and infection control standards, and fosters collaborative communication within the healthcare team. Must have a High School Diploma or GED and Basic Life Support (BLS) to begin, with RQI compliance ongoing. Emphasizes interpersonal skills, numerical proficiency, proper lifting techniques, and the ability to read, write, and perform math as demonstrated by a high school diploma or GED.
