Job Summary
Provides basic patient care under the supervision of an RN on a 26-bed cardiac step-down unit (CDH Cardiac Intermediate 3A) within Northwestern Medicine's Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute. Performs duties such as monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, assisting with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating), reporting abnormal findings to nursing staff, maintaining clean and orderly patient rooms, managing unit workflow, and serving as a liaison between patient care units and other departments. Cross training opportunities to the Telemetry Department are available. Requires High School Diploma or equivalent and CPR-BLS; nursing students with clinical rotations or CNAs/CMAs/EMTs or nursing students with one clinical semester are eligible. Prefer phlebotomy experience and graduate of an accredited Nursing Assistant program or Phlebotomy course. Part-time daytime schedule with rotating weekends.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Nursing students who have completed one clinical rotation
- Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or nursing school students with one semester of clinical completed
- CPR – Basic Life Support
