Job Summary
Facilitate patient activities of daily living including hygiene, toileting, and mobility while collecting vital signs and conducting point-of-care testing. Perform advanced care tasks such as turning patients, removing Foley catheters, and administering nasal swabs under RN supervision. Maintain patient safety through one-to-one observation and transport specimens to the laboratory. Assist with equipment checks, clerical duties, and medication transport while documenting physical needs and reporting condition changes. Work three 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday rotation. Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
- Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months

- Must be available for Three 12-hour Night shifts (7:00pm - 7:30am) including every other weekend and holiday
- Must complete a two-week classroom orientation at the start of employment
- Must be able to perform a wide variety of advanced patient care duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
- Must maintain the patient care and unit environment consistent with the policies, procedures, and practices
- Must provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinical area
- Must provide enhanced patient care under the direction of the licensed nurse
- Must document in the appropriate sections to create a complete and accurate medical record
- Must identify, observe, and document the physical needs of the patient according to established standards
- Must report any changes in patient condition to licensed personnel in a timely manner
- Must obtain and maintain the integrity of specimens in accordance with policy and procedure
- Must provide for or assist patients with activities of daily living
- Must provide one to one patient safety watch as assigned
- Must accurately process specimens and provide timely transport of the specimen to the laboratory
- Must perform point of care patient testing and point of care instrument maintenance and quality control
- Must assist in problem solving, trouble shooting and taking corrective measures in care and maintenance of equipment and supplies
- Must serve as a preceptor and mentor for new staff and students in a positive manner
- Must perform clerical duties for admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths according to standards
- Must transcribe and process orders according to unit standard
- Must coordinate transportation of patients to multiple tests
- Must participate in obtaining and communicating electronic information as pertinent to the nursing unit
- Must schedule tests, faxes consult, etc.
- Must assist in ordering supplies
- Must communicate with food services to ensure appropriate patient diets
- Must operate, problem solve, and take corrective measures for clerical equipment
- Must have access to non-controlled medications storage and supply areas and can transport non-controlled medications as necessary
- Must assist with transporting non-controlled medications to and from Pharmacy and within the unit as needed
- Must assist with transporting blood products to and from Blood Bank as needed
- Must support / Assist staff with 5 min Drills and/or Quality Rounds
- Must comply with all organization policies and procedures
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in the field
- Currently enrolled in an accredited RN or LPN program
