Job Summary
Perform multi-skilled patient care activities under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to support a decentralized, patient-centered approach. Conduct phlebotomy training and skills validation, achieving an 80% passing rate on basic and advanced skills tests within two months of hire. Maintain current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Work 36 weekly hours on rotating night shifts, including weekends and holidays, while communicating effectively with patients and staff.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency
- At least one year of patient care experience in a health care facility
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Successful completion of a Nursing Assistant course at an accredited institution
- Successful completion of a Medical Assistant course at an accredited institution
- EMT certification
- Paramedic certification
- Bachelor's degree
- Ability to understand and implement a variety of detailed instructions in the execution of therapeutic procedures
- Ability to make accurate physical observation of patients
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Basic computer skills
- Reliable attendance
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within two weeks of hire
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
- Ability to work irregular hours
- Ability to work under stressful conditions
- Ability to work rotating shifts
- Ability to work holidays
- Ability to work weekends
- Achieving an 80% passing rate on on-line course modules, phlebotomy training and skills validation for basic and advanced skills
- Ability to maintain BLS and any other annual competencies
- Adherence to MUHA policies
Desired Qualifications
- Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution
- Active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution
