Job Summary
The Patient Care Technician provides direct patient care and assists in non-direct care coordination in a telemetry unit. Responsibilities include performing basic nursing procedures for patients in stable condition, assisting RNs with acutely ill patients, and participating in patient admissions, discharges, and transfers. Essential tasks involve documentation of patient care activities, vital signs, and maintaining a clean environment. The role requires the incumbent to demonstrate effective communication skills, adhere to hospital policies, and practice medical asepsis while respecting patient dignity.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to perform basic mathematics
- Basic computer skills
- CPR – American Heart Association
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
Desired Qualifications
- Acute care experience within the last 3 years
- Currently enrolled in ASN or BSN program
- Preference given to those enrolled in Associate's or Bachelor's degree Nursing programs and completed at least one clinical rotation
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to attend 2 weeks of training
