Job Summary
Coordinate patient care for adult surgical patients on the inpatient unit by implementing plans of care under nurse direction and performing hourly rounding. Document vital signs, I&Os, and patient observations in the electronic health record while assisting with basic treatments, diagnostic procedures, and technical nursing tasks. Support Tele-Companion and Tele-Tech programs by monitoring patient safety, managing telemetry equipment, and applying electrocardiography leads. Manage pre-visit planning, patient intake, and appointment scheduling for ambulatory care responsibilities. Complete required competency assessments and training within three months of hire. Work a part-time 0.45 FTE schedule with weekend and holiday requirements, including a mandatory one-week pre-training period.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Must be available for a one-week, (M-F during the day) pre-training week for hospital onboarding
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand repeatedly
- Must be able to sit occasionally
- Must be able to walk repeatedly
- Must be able to climb rarely
- Must be able to twist/bend/stoop/kneel repeatedly
- Must be able to reach above shoulder level repeatedly

- Must have cognitive skills continuously
- Must be able to handle exposures to bloodborne pathogens
- Must be able to handle radiation in settings where medical imaging procedures are performed
- Must be able to handle various chemicals and medications
- Must be able to handle infectious diseases
- Must be able to handle emotionally challenging situations
- Must have excellent analytical and technical skills
- Must be detail oriented

Desired Qualifications
- Nurse Aide certification
- Emergency Medical Technician certification
- Prior work experience in health care
- Prior education in or work experience with medical terminology
