Job Summary
Assist with providing quality patient care under the direction of a licensed nurse. Performs routine patient care tasks such as bathing, toileting assistance, positioning and transfers, ambulation, answering call lights, and supporting emotional needs. Responsible for specimen collection (blood, urine, stool, sputum) with point-of-care testing as trained (glucometer, Hemocue, I-STAT), participates in quality controls and process improvement, observes for skin breakdown, and supports nutrition and isolation care. Cross-trained to cover Unit Clerk/Secretary duties and participates in staff meetings; adheres to Standard Precautions and uses appropriate PPE. Maintains professional presentation and demonstrates customer-focused care in alignment with hospital mission and performance improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent experience required
- Nursing aide training is required
- Phlebotomy and glucometer experience or training is required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire date
