Patient Care Tech (Med Surg)

Communicate and collaborate with the registered nurse while performing patient care tasks under direction, including vital signs, blood glucose testing, phlebotomy, electrode placement, and venous compression devices. Execute basic patient care services such as height and weight measurements, intake and output tracking, equipment retrieval, and room stocking. Maintain a conducive environment by keeping rooms clutter-free, managing linen and trash, and ensuring quiet surroundings. Support patient and family communication needs through answering call lights, orienting new patients, and assisting with discharge appointments. Promote safety by assisting with patient mobility and conducting safety rounds, while promoting comfort by providing water, ice, cups, pillows, blankets, and meal assistance. Transport non-monitored patients and assist with monitored or intubated transports. Requires CNA program certification, BLS certification within 14 days of hire, and at least one year of recent experience.
