Job Summary
Monitor vital signs, EKG signals, and patient conditions while assisting nursing staff with basic treatments and administering care. Keep patient rooms tidy and sanitized, ensuring adequate supplies and clean linen are available. Assist patients with everyday needs including personal hygiene, grooming, and mobility, while providing emotional support and reporting concerns to colleagues. Perform blood sugar checks, empty drains and ostomies, and place patients on cardiac monitors as required. Maintain patient comfort by moving, turning, or relocating patients for medical and comfort needs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- At least 1 year of patient care work experience in a health care facility
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. unassisted
- Ability to lift/lower objects 50 lbs. from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted
- Ability to lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs.
- Ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force
- Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes
- Ability to match or discriminate between colors
- Ability to determine distance/relationship between objects; depth perception
- Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with correction
- Ability to maintain tactile sensory functions
- Ability to maintain good olfactory sensory function
- Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use
- Ability to work rotating shifts
- Ability to work overtime as required
- Ability to work in a latex safe environment
- Ability to maintain good olfactory sensory function (Selected Positions)
- Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required (Selected Positions)
Desired Qualifications
- At least 1 year of patient care work experience in a health care facility or Certified Nursing Assistant
- College degree
- Active enrollment in nursing school with completion of Nursing Fundamentals from an accredited institution
- Active enrollment in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution
- Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant, or equivalent training
