Job Summary
Greet and register patients, verify demographics, insurance, and consent, and ensure accurate data in the EHR; collect copayments; verify eligibility and obtain authorizations; explain check-in processes and payment expectations; schedule and reschedule appointments; process referrals and medical record requests; perform clerical tasks (filing, scanning, uploading) and coordinate across multiple providers to support patient flow; maintain HIPAA/privacy compliance; identify and report compliance or billing issues; support the Practice Manager and care team with administrative duties and contribute to audits and performance reporting.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years of progressive experience in a healthcare or patient access environment
- Strong working knowledge of EHR systems, insurance verification, and medical terminology
- Strong attention to detail, interpersonal communication, and time-management skills
- Demonstrated professionalism and commitment to patient confidentiality
- Demonstrates empathy and professionalism when interacting with patients and families
- Adheres to HIPAA and privacy standards in all communications and record handling
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
