Job Summary
Provide direct patient care, including treatments and diagnostic studies as directed by a Registered Nurse. Support the care delivery team by conducting patient rounds, anticipating needs, and responding promptly to call lights or pages. Utilize effective communication styles with patients, families, staff, and colleagues while employing astute observational skills to report findings or changes. Perform validated technical skills, complete quality control checks on unit equipment, and participate in the orientation of new staff as assigned. This role requires six months of recent experience in direct patient care activities and adherence to established policies. The position is a Day Shift (7a-7:30p) onsite role at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton within the Med Surg department.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Less than 1 year Six months recent experience in direct provision of patient care activities, including treatments and/or diagnostic studies
- Successful completion of LVHN's inexperienced technical partner course
- Ability to follow direction and provide accurate reports
- Attainment and maintenance of unit-specific competencies
- Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in the delivery of patient care
- Basic computer skills
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania within 30 Days
- Lift and carry 40-50 lbs
- Frequent to continuous standing/walking
- Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift
- Ability to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR
