Job Summary
Provide direct patient care, including treatments and diagnostic studies, as directed by a Registered Nurse. Support unit and hospital goals by conducting patient rounds, anticipating needs, and responding promptly to call lights or pages. Utilize effective communication with patients, families, and staff while performing validated technical skills and completing quality control checks on designated equipment. Maintain observational skills to communicate findings or problems to the RN and participate in orienting new staff as assigned. Complete six months of recent experience in direct patient care activities or successfully finish the inexperienced technical partner course. This role operates on an evening shift (11am-11:30pm) in a bi-weekly 48-hour schedule at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Less than 1 year Six months recent experience in direct provision of patient care activities, including treatments and/or diagnostic studies
- Successful completion of LVHN's inexperienced technical partner course
- Ability to follow direction and provide accurate reports
- Attainment and maintenance of unit-specific competencies
- Ability to organize and prioritize assignments in the delivery of patient care
- Basic computer skills
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support - State of Pennsylvania within 30 Days
- Lift and carry 40-50 lbs
- Frequent to continuous standing/walking
- Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift
- Ability to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR
