Job Summary
Obtain and maintain accurate patient demographic, insurance, and contact information while verifying eligibility prior to appointments. Collect signatures, complete registration documentation, and process referrals and authorizations to support patient care. Schedule, confirm, reschedule, and track appointments, ensuring continuity of care and notifying clinical staff of changes. Answer high volumes of phone calls professionally and maintain electronic medical records, scanned documents, and fax servers. Coordinate care with patients, families, providers, and multidisciplinary teams while ensuring compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and quality standards. Assist with staff onboarding, training, and workflow updates to optimize provider schedules and departmental goals.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 1+ years of healthcare or customer service-related experience
- Access to reliable transportation and a valid U.S. driver's license
- Strong typing, data entry, and computer navigation skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- travel between locations as needed to provide staffing coverage and support operational needs

Desired Qualifications
- Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of ophthalmology and optometry workflows, scheduling requirements, and patient care coordination
- Experience performing patient registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, referral processing, co-pay collection, and medical record maintenance
- Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment, accountability, and professionalism
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with patients, providers, multidisciplinary teams, and external partners
