Job Summary
Greet and register patients upon arrival, collecting personal and insurance information accurately. Schedule and confirm appointments while coordinating with providers to optimize daily schedules. Answer incoming calls professionally, addressing inquiries and directing calls appropriately. Verify medical insurance coverage, assist with billing questions, and process payments. Maintain organized patient records ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy standards. Complete pre-visit planning to ensure patient reminders and insurance verification. This role reports to the Front Office Supervisor and takes directions from the Practice Manager. Candidates must stand frequently, handle up to 10 pounds regularly, and possess proficiency in electronic health records and billing systems.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proficiency in using computer systems and electronic health record (EHR) software
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with excellent telephone etiquette
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 25 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in healthcare administration or related field
- Experience working in a primary care or outpatient clinic setting
- Familiarity with healthcare compliance standards such as HIPAA
- Certification in medical office administration or patient coordination
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of medical insurance processes, patient billing, and appointment scheduling
- Proven experience in healthcare registration or front desk operations within a medical or clinical environment
