Job Summary
Organize the practice's daily activities and paperwork while scheduling appointments and procedures according to standard guidelines. Greet customers, answer incoming calls, and direct calls or take messages with courtesy and efficiency. Verify patient information, document in the Electronic Health Record (EPIC), and assist patients with registration and signing in. Collect co-pays and past due balances in alignment with payment policies, maintain a work queue for pending actions, and prepare documentation with accuracy. Adhere to Lean processes, HIPAA regulations, and OSHA guidelines while supporting the team in meeting financial, clinical, and service goals.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
- 1+ years of experience computer proficiency (multi-task through multiple applications including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word)
- 1+ years of experience working in a medical office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays and balances due, and maintaining medical records or the medical field
- Ability to be able to answer multiple phone calls
- Ability to work independently and maintain good judgment and accountability
- Demonstrated ability to work well with health care providers
- Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret information from others
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Valid driver's license
Desired Qualifications
- Experience taking inbound and outbound calls
- Knowledge of OBGYN terminology, women's health and fertility issues
- Knowledge of Epic or EMR software
