Job Summary
Provide supportive patient care under Registered Nurse guidance, including personal care, hygiene, toileting, and mobility assistance. Maintain a safe environment by reporting patient changes, conducting hand-offs, and escalating concerns through the chain of command. Serve as a liaison between patients and the healthcare team while delivering high-level customer service to patients, families, and visitors. Work full-time days and evenings with rotating weekends and holidays, adhering to infection prevention and safety standards across neonates through geriatrics.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to clearly communicate to other members of the healthcare team
- Ability to understand and follow directions of healthcare team
- Knowledge of patient and healthcare safety standards and regulations (i.e. falls, skin breakdown, suicide prevention, environment of care)
- Knowledge and demonstration of infection prevention and transmission-based precautions
- Ability to work in a team
- Basic hygiene and activities of daily living care
- Compassionate, relationship-based approach in care activities
- Accountability for completion of assigned tasks
- Escalation of concerns via chain of command
- Create and maintain safety environment
- Advocacy and foreseeing safety issues
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span
- Possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status
- Interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures
Desired Qualifications
- BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
- Recent experience in a healthcare environment, with a preference for the setting in which they are applying (preferred)
