Job Summary
As a Patient Care Associate (PCA) / Patient Care Technician (PCT) at Mercy, assist in individualized patient care under the direction of an RN or LPN, record vital signs, and help with daily patient needs (meals, bathing, toileting, mobility, transportation). For the PCT scope, perform phlebotomy and blood cultures, administer enteral feedings, provide wound care, remove IVs and Foley catheters, and perform tracheostomy care and suctioning. Mercy’s PCA training program is an accredited Department of Labor Apprenticeship, offering hands-on experience; a 175-hour training program is provided to meet regulatory requirements, to be completed within 90 days of hire. The role includes sign-on bonuses for day and night shifts, and Mercy offers comprehensive benefits for full-time team members. Location is Mercy Hospital South, St. Louis, MO, with night or day shifts available.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- CNA/CPTC certification or enrollment in a healthcare career program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within one month of hire
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Prolonged standing and walking during shifts
- Completion of PCA competencies within three months of hire (training program)
