Job Summary
Collect patient data, perform personal care including bathing and oral care, and administer point-of-care testing such as blood draws and electrocardiography. Assist with patient mobility, range of motion, and toileting while maintaining a clean, orderly, and safe environment. Report abnormal vital signs to the RN and participate in care planning and nursing report processes. Provide activity companionship for patients in observation and ensure competent, compassionate care aligned with patient/family rights. Work evenings Monday through Friday under the direction of a Registered Nurse, adhering to infection control protocols and documenting all care in the patient record.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Valid driver's license
- Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
- Strong attention to detail
- Must be able to perform technical procedures such as blood draw and electrocardiography
- Must be able to incorporate safe patient handling into basic restorative care such as ambulation, range of motion and use of assistive and prosthetic devices
- Must be able to demonstrate standard and transmission, based precautions and infection control techniques
- Must be able to document all care in the patient record
- Must be able to report abnormal findings to the RN and patient care team
- Must be able to incorporate patient/family rights to participate in decision making about their care
- Must be able to utilize standardized techniques for keeping patients and families informed
- Must be able to provide personal care to patients including bathing, oral care, and skin care
- Must be able to assist the patient with eating and hydration, grooming, dressing, and toileting
- Must be able to collect pertinent data and information relative to the patient's health or situation, including vital signs, height and weight, and food and fluid intake and output
- Must be able to participate in care planning and the nursing report process
- Must be able to provide the service of activity companion for patients requiring 11 observation
- Must be able to collect patient data
- Must be able to complete personal care of the patient
- Must be able to perform point of care testing such as whole blood glucose
- Must be able to turn & position and/or mobilize patients
- Must be able to assist with caring for the needs of assigned patients with a focus on progress toward discharge
- Must be able to collaborate with Materiel's Coordinators for use, stocking, and storage of supplies
- Must be able to create and maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment of care
- Must be able to assist in the delivery of patient care provided by the caregiving team
- Must be able to assure that competent, compassionate patient care is uniformly provided to customers
- Must be able to provide details related to patient progress toward the achievement of goals and outcomes to the RN
