Patient Care Assistant/PCT/CNA (PRN/Night Shift)

Job Summary
Answer call bells, deliver advanced indirect and selected direct patient care under RN direction, and perform selected direct care duties including taking vital signs, performing blood glucose checks, EKGs, and monitoring intake and output. Prepare patients for meals, assist with baths and mobility, transport patients within the facility, and perform assigned treatments. Maintain simple drainage devices, skin preps, equipment, and patient rooms in an orderly fashion while performing housekeeping duties and assigned data entry. Monitor patients as assigned, ensure safe care adhering to policies and standards of care, and manage time and supply resources within budgetary specifications. Maintain professional growth through mandatory meetings and continuing education, serving as a preceptor or mentor to less experienced staff. Night shift (7P-7A) with PRN status.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current BLS certification
- 2 years of work experience in an acute care hospital as a Nursing Assistant
- Ability to understand written instructions and perform basic mathematical calculations
- Demonstrated ability to perform duties with increased responsibilities
- Ability to perform duties requiring prolonged standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting
- Basic knowledge and understanding of PPE protocols and universal precautions
- Position requires fluency in English; written and verbal communication
- Pennsylvania Candidates: Act 33 (Child Abuse History Clearance), Act 73 (FBI Fingerprint Criminal History Clearance) completed within the last 5 years, or must be obtained prior to start date
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to the patient served
- Delivers appropriate advanced indirect and selected direct patient care at a competent level as directed by a physician or registered nurse within the scope of hospital-approved PCA skills inventory according to the needs/age of the patient/population served
- employs critical thinking skills when identifying and responding to abnormal findings, reporting such to the nurse immediately

- Ensures safe care to patients adhering to policies/procedures/standards of care, within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, and accuracy of practice
- Promotes individual professional growth/development by meeting requirements for mandatory all-staff meetings/continuing education/skills competency
- supports department goals which contribute to the success of the organization
- serves as preceptor/mentor/resource to less experienced staff
- Must be available for Night Shift (7P-7A)
- Must be available for Weekend shifts
Desired Qualifications
- Certified Nursing Assistant
- currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program (preferred for hires in Oklahoma)
