Patient Care Assistant/PCT/CNA (PRN/Night Shift)

Job Summary
Conduct advanced indirect and selected direct patient care under RN direction, including taking vital signs, performing EKGs, monitoring intake and output, and maintaining drainage devices. Assist with patient meals, baths, mobility, and transport while maintaining equipment and patient rooms in an orderly fashion. Answer call bells, perform skin preps, and execute assigned treatments as directed by physicians or registered nurses. Ensure safe care adherence to policies, standards, and budgetary specifications while managing time, supplies, and data entry. Demonstrate critical thinking when identifying abnormal findings and report them immediately. Maintain professional growth through mandatory meetings, continuing education, and skills competency. Work night shifts (7P-7A) in an 18-bed small-format hospital with differentials and 401K matching.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Current BLS certification
- 2 years of work experience in an acute care hospital as a Nursing Assistant
- Ability to understand written instructions and perform basic mathematical calculations
- Demonstrated ability to perform duties with increased responsibilities
- Ability to perform duties requiring prolonged standing, walking, stooping, bending, and lifting
- Basic knowledge and understanding of PPE protocols and universal precautions
- Position requires fluency in English; written and verbal communication
- Pennsylvania Candidates: Act 33 (Child Abuse History Clearance), Act 73 (FBI Fingerprint Criminal History Clearance) completed within the last 5 years, or must be obtained prior to start date
- Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to the patient served
- Delivers appropriate advanced indirect and selected direct patient care at a competent level as directed by a physician or registered nurse within the scope of hospital-approved PCA skills inventory according to the needs/age of the patient/population served
