Job Summary
Patient Care Technician provides nursing staff support in patient care delivery, clerical functions, and organization of the unit environment, with emphasis on duties such as vitals, I&O, hygiene, ambulation, and turning patients. The role supports the RN by communicating plan of care, documenting care, and providing data related to patient assessment. Responsibilities include responding to patient calls, proactive rounding, ensuring safety and equipment readiness, and maintaining patient rooms and confidentiality. Requires High school or equivalent and Certified Nursing Assistant certification (CNA), BLS, and LA City Fire Life Safety training. The position is part-time with 12-hour day shifts and union status.
Required Qualifications
- Req High school or equivalent
- Req Specialized/technical training Graduate from an accredited Certified Nursing Program.
- Req Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
- Req Certified Nursing Assistant (CA DPH) *Grandfathered from CNA Certification requirement, if hired/transferred prior to 8/2016.
- Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
- Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
