Job Summary

Prepare and provide post-exam care for patients undergoing CT and MRI studies at William Osler Health System. Ensure patient completion of pre-screening documents, perform intravenous insertion where indicated, and provide instructions regarding gown changes and waiting protocols. Deliver basic patient care while maintaining customer service standards in a fast-paced, inter-professional environment. Prioritize tasks effectively and demonstrate critical thinking skills within a team setting. Requires a graduate of a certified medical laboratory assistant program with venipuncture experience; CPR certification and knowledge of diagnostic imaging workflows are assets.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of certified medical laboratory assistant program or equivalent program including venipuncture
  • Health sciences background
  • Medical terminology
  • Venipuncture experience
  • Customer service skills
  • Multi-tasking ability/critical thinking/problem solving
  • Team player/excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational skills, able to prioritize
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and inter-professional team environment
  • Self motivated

  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Hours: Currently Days/Evenings/Nights, including weekends and statutory holidays (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)

Desired Qualifications

  • preference to candidates with medical radiation technology experience
  • CPR certification
  • Knowledge of diagnostic imaging procedures, terminology and workflow including CT and MRI
  • Knowledge of diagnostic imaging computer systems
  • Knowledge of MRI safety and radiation safety practices
  • Previous training on safe lifting and transferring techniques
  • Computer knowledge
  • Innovative and willing to learn
  • Demonstrate individual leadership
