Job Summary
Collect vital signs, document data, and perform minor specimen testing under RN supervision. Hold and position patients, assist with procedures, and prepare supplies as delegated. Maintain environmental standards by stocking, cleaning, and ensuring unit areas are maintained. Complete continuing education, participate in training opportunities, and may act as a preceptor. Adhere to HIPAA, maintain confidentiality, and promote general patient safety. Work 24 hours weekly nights (7p-7a) with third weekend and holiday rotations at Nationwide Children's Hospital.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of fundamentals course from an approved nursing program, or equivalent certification or experience
- Active Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) in the State of Ohio, or equivalent education or experience
- Current CPR certification (BLS for healthcare provider)
- One year of patient care experience in a hospital setting within the last three years, or equivalent education or certification
- Effective written and verbal communication
- Interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Must demonstrate competence as defined in the Patient Care Assistant responsibilities/skills checklist in providing age appropriate care and services to pediatric patients of all ages and selected adult patients
- Displays a positive presence and interacts with patients, families, staff, outside vendors, consultants, and physicians
- Must be available for 24 hrs/week, nights, 7p-7a, every third weekend rotation, holiday rotation
