Job Summary
Conduct vital signs, intake and output measurements, EKGs, glucometry, phlebotomy, and specimen collection while documenting all assigned responsibilities. Perform patient mobilization using proper body mechanics and assistive devices, ensuring patient comfort and satisfaction. Monitor and report changes in patient conditions to the unit-based team, restock supplies, and perform equipment checks and unit-specific maintenance duties. Take an active role in unit-based performance improvement and maintain awareness of the unit budget. Participate in in-services, continuing education programs, and competency testing to support professional development.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Basic computer skills
- Must be able to float as needed per unit and hospital policy
- Must be able to sit up to 7 hours per day
- Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours per day
- Must be able to walk 6 hours per day
- Must be able to consistently lift, carry and push objects up to 10 lbs
- Must be able to occasionally lift, carry and push objects up to 75 lbs
- Must be able to transport patients weighing up to 400 lbs via mechanical lifting equipment and/or other approved patient handling aids
- Must be able to frequently stoop and bend
- Must be able to frequently reach above shoulder level
- Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch
- Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation, and high and low frequencies
- Must be able to see as it relates to general, near, far, color and peripheral vision
- Must obtain BLS certification within sixty (60) days of employment or transfer to position
