Patient Advocate Specialist

Job Summary
Screen patients on-site at hospitals (bedside or ER) for eligibility assistance programs, identify self-pay patients, and initiate applications to State, County, and Federal programs. Maintain patient records, document results in the onsite tracking tool, and provide information about Firstsource services. Includes potential outside field work such as patient home visits and ongoing communication with patients about progress and eligibility. Requires up-to-date immunizations and a hybrid work arrangement between on-site and remote tasks.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Must have basic computer skills
- 1 – 3 years’ experience of medical coding, medical billing, eligibility (hospital or government) or other pertinent medical experience is preferred
- Previous customer service experience preferred
