Job Summary

Screen self-pay patients at hospital bedside for eligibility in governmental and non-governmental programs, identifying potential payors including auto insurance, Workers' Compensation, and commercial insurance to route accounts appropriately. Conduct interviews with patients and family members, record complete documentation of activities, and perform financial clearance functions including collections. Obtain Confidential Financial Statement forms, assist with benefit applications, and conduct field visits for skip tracing or document assistance. Notify case management, social services, and admissions staff of screening determinations via verbal and written communication. Requires bi-lingual Spanish proficiency, familiarity with federal/state/county programs, and experience in social services or hospital admitting.

Required Qualifications

  • Working familiarity with the rules and regulations pertaining to Federal, State and County programs
  • P/C systems literate including Windows, and Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word programs
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as the clear understanding of the English language
  • Detail oriented, with strengths in dealing with multiple facilities, Supervisors, and Hospital platforms
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with efficiency
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years work experience with Social Services or Hospital Admitting or related area
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to walk through a hospital environment, including across broad campus settings and Emergency Department environments, and visit patients at bedside
  • Ability to travel if required
  • Some travel may be required
  • Conifer requires its candidates, as applicable and as permitted by law, to obtain and provide confirmation of all required vaccinations and screenings prior to the start of employment. This may include, but is not limited to, the COVID-19 vaccination, influenza vaccination, and/or any future required vaccines and screenings.
