Job Summary
Interpret credit policies, verify eligibility, and process patient and clinic correspondence including refunds and collections. Serve as a liaison between the clinic and central Business Office while ensuring accurate account information and resolving discrepancies through auditing. Check fee tickets for correct coding, enter charges within 24 hours, and reconcile missing fee tickets monthly. Train physicians and staff on Business Office policies, procedures, coding, and the billing system. Complete special billings and assist other personnel as assigned. Work Monday through Friday 8-5 with occasional overtime, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to all safety and attendance standards.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years experience in health care environment
- Minimum of 3 years experience in patient accounts
- Ability to communicate in the English language in person, by phone and in writing in a clear, concise and professional manner
- Ability to resolve problems with minimal assistance
- Must possess CPT and ICD coding skills
- Familiarity with clinical operating policies and procedures
- Familiarity with insurance industry practices
- Familiarity with Managed Care principles
- Excellent analytical skills
- Ability to collect data from a variety of sources
- Ability to combine data to present a comprehensive summary
- Medical terminology
- Proficiency in computer skills
- Ability to work with spreadsheet software
- Ability to work with word processing software
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Experience with conflict management
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Ability to independently write correspondence appropriate for mailing to patients and insurance companies or other third parties
- Ability to professionally represent the clinic's interests and patient concerns with parties outside of the clinic setting

- Ability to work various shifts between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
