Job Summary
Manage billing procedures by preparing and submitting claims to third-party payors and self-pay patients while ensuring accurate accounting of all claims. Supervise billing clerks, coordinate electronic claim processing with vendors, and maintain provider enrollment with insurance companies. Serve as the HIPAA Security Officer and Compliance Officer, developing policies to safeguard PHI and auditing billing issues for regulatory adherence. Monitor the billing process to ensure timely collection, record payments according to policy, and provide training to staff. Maintain accurate records, assist with quality assurance data compilation, and act as a flexible team member covering other facility areas as needed.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in medical/dental billing and coding
- 2 years of program management experience
- Billing and coding knowledge in primary care
- Understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, HMOs, and PPOs
- Understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding
- Understanding of EMR
- Understanding of Medicare Quality Initiatives
- Proficient in written and spoken English
- Ability to independently obtain, interpret, and communicate information
- Ability to communicate effectively with providers, other staff, and outside vendors
- Must be well-organized and detail-oriented
- Valid Driver's License
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Certified Coder Designation
