Job Summary
Process payments in the electronic medical record (EMR) system and manage billing documentation including invoices, credit card authorizations, and consents. Facilitate open balances, payment plans, and follow-ups to ensure accounts remain current while resolving billing discrepancies with clinicians and patients. Liaise with insurance companies on patients' behalf, review daily transactions for corrections, and handle urgent, sensitive issues with discretion while protecting personal health information. Understand mental health billing codes and regulations to clearly communicate with stakeholders. This full-time, non-exempt hybrid role (4 days in office, 1 day remote) is located in Midtown, NY, reporting to the Senior Patient Accounts Associate.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Understand mental health billing codes, rules, and regulations
- Process all payments in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Manage billing related documentation including invoices, credit card authorizations, and consents
- Facilitate open balances, payment plans, follow-up and escalation
- Resolve urgent, sensitive, and confidential issues with discretion and integrity
- Strictly protect personal health information
- Full-time employment
