Patient Account Representative

Job Summary

Manage patient accounts from initial billing through final resolution, investigating denied claims and submitting reconsiderations or appeals with supporting documentation. Follow up with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial carriers, and workers' compensation payers regarding outstanding claims while collaborating with attorneys on lien resolutions and negotiated reductions. Collect outstanding balances from patients and clients, re-submit claims to meet payer filing guidelines, and maintain accurate documentation within billing software. Ensure all activities comply with the No Surprises Act, HIPAA, and federal healthcare regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of accounts receivable, medical billing, or collections experience
  • Knowledge of the air ambulance industry and air medical billing requirements
  • Working knowledge of Medicare
  • Working knowledge of Medicaid
  • Working knowledge of AHCCCS
  • Working knowledge of Managed Care
  • Working knowledge of Commercial Insurance
  • Working knowledge of Auto Insurance
  • Working knowledge of Workers' Compensation
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 diagnosis coding
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Outstanding customer service and telephone etiquette
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
  • Experience navigating medical billing software and electronic account management systems
  • High attention to detail and accuracy

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous ambulance or air ambulance billing experience
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish preferred)
