Job Summary

Greet and guide patients and families through the admission process, collecting and verifying essential information while ensuring paperwork accuracy. Enter and verify admitting/registration details, maintain required records with confidentiality, and coordinate with other departments to support efficient patient flow. Explain hospital regulations, escort patients to appropriate departments, and assist visitors with directions to foster a welcoming environment. Complete work assignments independently under normal supervision while reporting safety hazards and adhering to infection-control standards. This role supports the patient care journey with a focus on compassion, clarity, and confidence within a collaborative team environment.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in patient registration, admitting, scheduling, billing, customer service, or a medical office
  • Knowledge of insurance processes, referrals, and prior authorizations
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and customer-service skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism, empathy, and discretion
  • Commitment to compliance, confidentiality (HIPAA), safety, and infection-control standards
  • Ability to work independently with normal supervision
  • Physical Conditions: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Physical Conditions: Occasional after-hours calls
  • Physical Conditions: Light to moderate work with 50 pounds maximum weight to lift and carry
  • Physical Conditions: Position requires reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and seeing
