Job Summary

Assure complete and accurate patient admissions and registrations according to organization policy and regulatory requirements. Obtain inpatient bed assignments, process admissions including arm banding and addressograph plates, and complete necessary forms. Pre-admit scheduled inpatients, outpatients, and ambulatory patients to facilitate smooth registration. Obtain direct admit information, enter reservations in the computer system, and notify other areas. Conduct comprehensive bedside or telephone interviews to obtain demographic, insurance, and third-party liability information. Perform eligibility verification, resolve discrepancies, and determine needs for financial assistance recommendations.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of a health vocational program such as Patient Access, Medical Assistance Medical Billing & Insurance
  • One (1) year of experience performing any combination of admitting, Health Unit Coordinator, patient registration, customer service or billing duties
  • Healthcare setting

Desired Qualifications

  • Healthcare setting preferred
