Patient Access Team Lead

Job Summary
Lead the Patient Access team by continuing education, training, and communicating process changes while maintaining on-call availability for questions and shift coverage. Comply with all departmental policies, participate in performance improvement activities, and manage information responsibilities including down time registration. Train new and existing employees on patient registration functions across EC, OP, IP, and Surgery centers, covering insurance loading, patient type selection, and customer service techniques. Assist the Patient Access Manager with scheduling, policy creation, and annual procedure reviews. Maintain normal registration hours, covering any additional shifts or PRN needs required to fulfill duties.
Required Qualifications
- Must comply with all applicable policies and procedures, including, but not limited to all departmental and functional policy and procedures

- Must assume information management responsibilities
- Must have a full understanding of down time registration
- Minimum: High School Diploma
- Healthcare Certification Program completion in Billing, Coding, or Customer Service area
- currently enrolled in related program
- Extensive experience in Patient Access or Patient Accounts
- Minimum: Three to six years' experience in Patient Access Registration in an acute care hospital and/or physician office setting
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Technical expertise in all aspects of health care benefits including HMO's, PPO, indemnity plans as well as Medicare, Medicaid, and other local or State programs
- Must also have a working knowledge of third party benefits limitations
- BLS (American Heart Association
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred: Associates or Bachelors Degree preferred
- Preferred: Seven plus years' experience in Patient Access Registration in an acute care hospital and/or physician office setting
