Job Summary
Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments while executing pre-arrival registration and accurately identifying insurance coverage. Perform check-in and check-out functions, collect self-pay payments, and manage departmental work queues. Take telephone and in-person messages to route communication between patients and the clinical care team. Execute insurance verifications and prior authorizations using healthcare software. Requires high school education, 6–12 months experience in a healthcare business or receptionist environment, knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes, and effective communication skills. Required Qualifications
- High School or GED
- 6 months – 1 year
- Formal education beyond high school in Business or Healthcare or equivalent experience preferred
- Experience in a healthcare business or receptionist environment
- Excellent computer and customer service skills
- Knowledge of medical terminology; ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes and use
- Familiarity with the internet, email and Microsoft Office
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrates the ability to efficiently organize work, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and productivity
- Experience in patient registration, insurance verification and health insurance plans
