Job Summary

Register and admit patients in the Emergency Department and related access areas; perform complete patient registration, pre-registration, and demographic/insurance verification; collect non-covered fees; obtain consent, IDs and insurance information; coordinate interpreter services; submit NPI for providers; interpret orders for completeness and compliance with regulatory requirements; explain payer policies and assist with financial counseling and deferral options when appropriate; maintain accurate data across multiple systems, including CPT/ICD coding references, and ensure compliance with EMTALA/HIPAA; collaborate with Financial Counselors and Case Management as needed; support efficient check-in and scheduling for tests and procedures; demonstrate professional, concierge-level service per AIDET principles; experience with Epic Registration/Scheduling preferred; meet accuracy targets and support cash collection processes.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of customer service experience in healthcare or related field
  • Experience in patient access/registration or hospital environment preferred
  • Epic Registration and/or Scheduling experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to multi-task in high-stress environment
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, EMTALA, payer requirements, and regulatory compliance
