Job Summary
Greet patients and answer telephone calls to manage inquiries regarding scheduling diagnostic services, physician referrals, and general information. Schedule appointment requests while indicating special needs such as accommodations or interpreters. Communicate insurance participation, financial responsibility, and time of service policies to the patient population. Obtain and verify patient insurance and demographic data, ensuring all information is registered in EPIC. Perform real-time insurance verification, collect pre-registration information for outstanding work queue accounts, and conduct outbound calls for referral scheduling. Handle general faxing, filing, and mail sorting as needed. This role supports the Columbia West Campus sphere within the system-wide access center serving over 2,800 physicians across the Northeast.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or the equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in medical terminology
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or college-level coursework
- Prior high volume customer service experience in a call center environment
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
