Job Summary
Remote Patient Access Specialist role supporting Northwestern Medicine in IL/IN/IA/MO/WI. Responsibilities include patient registration and scheduling, collecting demographic and insurance information, performing medical necessity checks, communicating with hospital departments and physicians, ensuring HIPAA-compliant handling of patient data, providing high-quality customer service, navigating Epic and other systems, and participating in quality assurance and process improvements. Requires strong communication, data-entry proficiency, ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare setting, and adherence to department policies; remote work permitted within specified states.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years customer service or medical office experience
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Proficiency in computer data-entry/typing
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Basic Computer Skills
- Ability to type 40 wpm
- Ability to multi-task
