Patient Access Specialist

Facilitate patient tracking and billing by obtaining and verifying accurate demographic information, securing financial responsibility from guarantors, and collecting out-of-pocket payments to maximize hospital reimbursement. Answer telephone inquiries professionally, record messages, and communicate with medical staff while ensuring proper patient identification and triage upon arrival. Provide and obtain signatures on required forms, verify insurance benefits and payors, and obtain authorizations as needed. Scan registration and clinical documentation into the system, maintain medical records, and coordinate patient transfers. Pursue collections at the time of service, manage cash drawers, and maintain logs for patients, payments, and admissions. Maintain a clean working environment, receive deliveries, and notify staff of equipment malfunctions. This role serves as a liaison between patients, families, payers, and Patient Financial Services within a 16-bed small-format hospital.
