Patient Access Specialist

Job Summary
Register patients and collect demographic and insurance data; perform pre-registration and ensure billing accuracy by capturing ICD-9/10 and CPT coding; answer and direct phone calls while maintaining HIPAA compliance; prepare patient liability estimates for pre-service and walk-ins; coordinate with Pre-service Center and physician offices for authorizations; transport and escort patients when needed; rotate through departments including emergency, outpatient, and labs; orientate to 8:00–16:30 during first week; work in a rotating shift schedule including every other weekend.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Knowledge of ICD-9 and ICD-10 CPT coding, medical terminology, and/or revenue cycle knowledge
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks
- Knowledge and experience with a variety of information systems, experience with spreadsheet and word processing software, and keyboard proficiency
