Patient Access Specialist

Job Summary
Receives and directs incoming calls to appropriate CHC personnel, screens patient calls, takes accurate messages, and returns calls as needed. Schedules acute and patient appointments according to established protocol while collecting and entering registration and demographic data into the computer system. Provides translation services for non-English speaking callers, directs incoming faxes, and covers Front Desk Check-In/Check-Out as required. This role operates under the general supervision of the Office Manager within Community Health Connections' multi-site network in North Central Massachusetts. Bilingual capabilities in English/Spanish or English/Portuguese are a plus, and the position requires proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking in English.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Portuguese
- 1-year similar work experience or in a medical office environment
- Computer skills for accurate data entry
- Must be able to type a minimum of 35 hrs. per minute
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Demonstrated interpersonal relationship skills
- Demonstrated Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking in English
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, high telephone call volume office environment
