Job Summary
Schedule, reschedule, and cancel patient appointments while executing pre-arrival registration and accurately identifying insurance coverage. Perform check-in and check-out functions, collect self-pay payments, and manage prior authorizations and work queue items. Take telephone and in-person messages to route communication between patients and the clinical care team using healthcare software. Verify insurance and facilitate departmental support. Requires high school education, healthcare business experience, knowledge of medical terminology and codes, and strong computer skills. Night and evening shift differentials apply. Required Qualifications
- High School or GED
- 6 months – 1 year
- Experience in a healthcare business or receptionist environment
- Excellent computer and customer service skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrates the ability to efficiently organize work, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and productivity
- Experience in patient registration, insurance verification and health insurance plans
Desired Qualifications
- Formal education beyond high school in Business or Healthcare or equivalent experience preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology; ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes and use
- Familiarity with the internet, email and Microsoft Office
