Job Summary
The Patient Access Specialist will register patients in the hospital’s EHR, verify/update demographics, determine guardianship/guarantor responsibilities, collect insurance information and co-pays, and manage registration tasks such as In Basket messages. They will conduct patient check-ins and check-outs, provide appointment details and directions, and assist with discharge instructions. They handle point-of-care scheduling for follow-up appointments or procedures, coordinating with clinical teams in high-demand areas (ED, Inpatient, Radiology) to align scheduling with treatment plans. The role requires strong customer service, the ability to answer questions about services and accessibility, and collaboration with clinical and administrative staff to optimize patient flow. They must maintain HIPAA compliance and accurately document information in the EHR. Estimated shifts include evenings, weekends, and holidays with on-site requirements; bilingual skills are preferred and may include bilingual pay. The position emphasizes patient-centered care, attention to detail, multitasking in a fast-paced environment, and a collaborative mindset to minimize delays in care. A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
