Job Summary
Patient Access Scheduling Representative (Outpatient) location Kailua, HI. Facilitates patient medical and financial clearance and coordinates scheduling for wellness programs using healthcare knowledge and strong communication to resolve issues around access and authorization of services. Responsibilities include coordinating and scheduling patient care across departments, handling front-desk duties and telephone inquiries, maintaining the patient scheduling database, collaborating with Patient Financial Services to obtain required authorizations, submitting retro-authorization documentation, and assisting with wellness newsletters and promotional materials. Requires adherence to vaccination policy and E-Verify, with a focus on confidentiality and policy interpretation. Preferred education includes a High School/GED or Associate/Technical degree with at least two years of healthcare experience; role involves regular interaction with physicians, office staff, and patient clients and supports a comprehensive scheduling workflow.
Required Qualifications
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
- Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
- Two years' healthcare experience: Preferred
- Coordinates and schedules patient care for all wellness programs
- Facilitates communication between patient scheduling staff and all user departments
- Answers telephone inquiries regarding physician referrals and covers front desk duties when needed
- Maintains patient scheduling data base
- Collaborates with patient financial services (PFS) to ensure appropriate authorizations are obtained in accordance with PFS policy and procedure
- Submits documentation for retro-authorization as appropriate
- files and appeal for denial of services
- Develops monthly Wellness newsletter, updating website and developing promotional flyers
- Actively participates in training
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
- Vaccinations required as condition of employment and annually thereafter
