Job Summary
Welcome and greet patients or representatives in person or by phone to ensure an exceptional initial hospital experience. Collect demographics, health information, and verify insurance eligibility while obtaining required signatures to protect hospital interests. Enter access or verify patient data in real-time, gather clinical information, and process referrals, pre-certifications, and pre-authorizations per insurance plan requirements. Collect co-pays, identify outstanding balances, and refer to provider offices to confirm and create scheduled appointments prior to discharge. Respond to inquiries regarding routine and sensitive topics with compassion and respect, generating and analyzing data reports to follow up on inconsistencies. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of registration requirements for admitting, OP, ED, maternity, and rehabilitation units.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 1+ years of customer service experience
- Ability to work onsite at our Cobleskill, NY facility
- Ability to work from 8:00am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday
- Access to reliable transportation and a valid US driver's license
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to work night and weekend hours
- Ability to engage and effectively communicate with individuals and groups of adults at all levels within the organization
- Ability to build rapport quickly, develop trust, sustain working relationships, and represent CRH positively in internal and external meetings
- Strong time-management and organizational skills
- Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Basic keyboarding skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
- Standing for long periods of time (10 hours) while using a workstation on wheels and phone/headset
- Candidates are required to pass a drug test before beginning employment
Desired Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in scheduling and authorizations
- Healthcare experience and clinical knowledge
