Job Summary
Register patients for admission and outpatient services with accurate data entry, verify insurance eligibility and Medicare requirements, collect copayments and apply payments, and serve as a financial advocate for self-pay patients. Ensure confidentiality across departments, assist in verifying charity eligibility, perform pre-certification of insurances, document discrepancies in patient records, complete Medicare-related documentation (ABN when applicable, Medicare Secondary Payer questionnaire), and coordinate data flow between physicians, nursing floors, and patient business services. Requires excellent customer service, ability to interpret when interpreter services are needed, and adherence to PPE protocols and privacy standards. Schedule: Monday–Friday 6:45a–3:15p.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum 6 months in an office/clerical role preferred
- CHAA is preferred
- Typing 40 wpm
- Knowledge of health insurance and medical terminology
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Able to sit/stand for prolonged periods
- Able to wear PPE when required
- Physical ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Vision requirements as specified
