Patient Access Representative

Register patients in the electronic health record, verify identity and select the correct patient record, review schedules and orders to register for the appropriate service, scan insurance cards/ID documents/advance directives, and enter demographic and insurance information. Explain and complete regulatory and privacy-compliant documents, collect co-payments and balances, greet patients and families, and direct them to the correct service area. May perform scheduling, pre-admission and discharge duties and provide patient information updates to families in waiting rooms. Requires high school diploma or equivalent; experience in customer service or data entry; proficiency with keyboarding and knowledge of payer billing, ICD-9/CPT coding, and medical terminology.
