Job Summary

The Patient Access Scheduler coordinates and schedules patient appointments, procedures, and surgeries across hospital departments, ensures accurate documentation and efficient workflow, and collaborates with clinical teams and administrative staff. Responsibilities include scheduling, confirming and rescheduling appointments; providing preparation instructions; communicating with patients and providers; coordinating with radiology, surgery, laboratory, and outpatient clinics; verifying insurance coverage and handling pre-authorizations; updating patient information in the EHR; maintaining HIPAA confidentiality; maximizing provider schedules and efficiency; and collecting patient demographics and documentation at registration. Required skills include familiarity with Epic, medical terminology, and strong data-entry and computer abilities, with a professional, empathetic, and service-oriented approach.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree preferred)
  • Previous experience in healthcare, scheduling, or administrative roles
