Job Summary

Verify patient benefits, register, schedule, and discharge patients while collecting copays and balancing daily cash logs. Field incoming calls, refer accounts to financial counselors, and obtain pre-authorizations from third-party payers. Enter new patient data, verify electronic health record completeness, and secure deposits for self-pay and high-risk accounts. Manage co-payments and deductibles, correct insurance variances, and perform QA audits of registrations. Float to other work areas as requested and work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours when needed.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a customer service position and/or office setting
  • Minimum of 1 year of registration or billing experience in a healthcare setting
  • American Heart Association BLS
  • DPS Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Able to reach above and below shoulder level, lift, bend, kneel, squat, stand, walk, and sit for the full scheduled shift
  • Able to use telephone and computer software and hardware for most of the shift (90% of the day)
  • Must be available for nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours when needed
  • Demonstrates ability to multitask, prioritize appropriately, and management time efficiently
  • Effective oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrates ability to utilize a variety of technological resources (phone, computer hardware, various software programs, fax, scanner)

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous experience in healthcare registration, scheduling, and/or authorizations
