Job Summary

Register patients for hospital services, collect copays and deductibles, and obtain necessary signatures while verifying insurance and demographic information. Accurately document all data in system fields and account notes, and assist medical and nursing staff in appropriate patient placement. Answer telephone inquiries and refer uninsured or under-insured patients to the Financial Counselor as needed. Maintain positive relationships with patients, families, and clinical personnel while performing miscellaneous duties as requested.

Required Qualifications

High school graduate
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Understanding of the impact of patient registration on the financial revenue cycle
Knowledge of on-line computer systems and applications
Superior customer service
Telephone and interpersonal skills
Working knowledge of medical terminology
Typing and data entry skills
PC literacy
Excellent clerical skills
Good written and oral communication skills
Literacy in English
Good organizational skills
Ability to follow written and verbal directions with multiple steps
Ability to work in a stressful environment
Ability to tactfully handle sensitive issues
